Therese Schmidt was born in Potsdam in 1979, studied music studies, literature and music theater directing in Dresden and Berlin and has worked as a freelance director since 2008.
She has directed at various theaters (including Landesbühnen Sachsen, Semperoper Dresden and Oper Magdeburg) and has taught theater and dramatic literature to opera students at the Berlin University of the Arts and the Carl-Maria-von-Weber Music Academy in Dresden since 2009.
She writes her own texts and plays and is currently working on a number of new play developments, including Moby_D. Eine Männermelancholie (Moby D. A Male Melancholia) together with the composer Wolfgang Heiner (performances are planned for Gare du Nord, Bahnhof für Neue Musik, Basel and Radialsystem Berlin).She has coordinated the PAP Information Center since September 2014 and is a member of LAFT.
