Open Call: 7th Industry Get-Together of the Independent Performing Arts Community
September 5 – 7, 2019
Sophiensæle, Sophienstr. 18, 10178 Berlin
Alongside comprehensive cultural policy information, a variety of education and exchange formats as well as atmospheric meetings, the 2019 Industry Get-Together will also take the topic of solidarity into focus.
What role do we as a community and as individuals within the performing arts want to take on in order to strengthen local, national and international solidarity? How can we develop new narratives of the future and (what) do we want to contribute to the formation of social utopias? How solidary are our own working structures and institutions? What visions from experts in other disciplines can we use productively for our structures - and vice versa? How can we be successful in working with each other sustainably and at eye level? How can trust function as the foundation of our systems?
The independent performing arts community can be described as a testing grounds for alternative forms of social organization, especially for forms of collaboration beyond the existing, standardized and disciplinary structures. Perhaps it should become just as second nature to investigate societal changes as it is to discuss working methods within the independent performing arts community in order to deal with the challenges of our times and work effectively against increasing inequality and division. In order to do, exchange, support and allies are absolutely necessary.
The 2019 Industry Get-Together will bring together key players from a variety of disciplines and fields who dedicate themselves for a more just and open future on a global level. You are warmly invited to discuss, work together, mutually reflect, form alliances, exchange questions and challenges answers.
And, as is the case every year, we want to place those questions and topics at the center of the event that move you and discuss them in a larger context with you. This is why we are calling for the submission of articulated suggestions for formats exploring the central questions of the 2019 Industry Get-Together.
We look forward to your suggestions (each can be a maximum of one DIN A4 page) with an indication of the format (presentation, workshop, panel discussion, et cetera) and possible participants and target groups.
The suggestions can be submitted by May 21, 2019 in the form of a PDF file written in German, English, French or Arabic to: franziska.janke(at)pap-berlin.de
The suggestions will be evaluated by the team responsible for the content of the Industry Get-Together. A fee will be paid if the suggestion is used. The decisions will be announced by the middle of June.
