Second Get-Together of the Independent Performing Arts Industry 2013

Develop strategies, share knowledge, meet colleagues - the second Industry Get-Together of the Independent Performing Arts was held under this motto from October 23-25, 2014 at Ballhaus Ost Berlin.

The event reexamined and further explored the goals formulated during the first Industry Get-Together in 2013. These were to give all members of the community the opportunity to inform themselves of new developments, discuss current questions and lay the foundations for constant networking and collaboration uncomplicatedly and efficiently in direct contact with each other. And this was accomplished with an overwhelmingly high number of participants.

With more than 500 participants, we nearly doubled last year's attendance. We were particularly happy to see that a large number of non-German-speaking members of the community attended the English-language events and that guests from all of Germany, Austria and Switzerland found their way to us. The increased number of participants, the international interest and the coverage in media like Deutschlandradio Kultur and Der Tagesspiegel demonstrate that the contents meet a real need of the members of the community and the public and that there is a large demand for networking forums like the Industry Get-Together.

A total of 32 events were held over three days at Ballhaus Ost. Alongside the classic formats such as lectures and panel discussions, the participatory, non-hierarchical formats such as open spaces or work groups were also very well received by the audience. More than 100 speakers contributed to the wide-ranging schedule of events.

Alongside cultural policy questions, the discussions and lectures also dealt with aspects of working in the field of the independent performing arts, with new forms and the future of theater as well as opportunities for producing internationally.
