Performing Identity | Performing Collaboration
May 7, 2019, Station Berlin
For the fourth time, the Berlin Performing Arts Program and re:publica will present formats that allow a professional transfer of knowledge between the performing and the digital arts and their respective production networks under the title Performersion.
When societies learn a new technology, artists often play a key role. They take an individual path through the new, unknown playing field, driven by curiosity and new content.
Presentations by Monster Control District and Philip Steimel and others, who applied via the open call, will be given on the topic performing collaboration at 5:30 pm on stage 8.
At 8:00 pm, the panel Performersion: To Perform Currencies of Beauty” will explore visions for the role of artists and culture makers in a digital post-currency world with the live action role playing stars Omsk Social Club, the artist Jonas Lund and the scientist Martina Leeker.
In the evening, during the Performersion networking reception, additional artists and independent groups who participated in the open call will informally present their work involving aspects of digitality to an audience of professionals and numerous cooperation partners within the arts & culture track of re:publica.
Please note: We are pleased that we have been able to provide numerous members of the independent performing arts community with the opportunity to make a presentation at re:publica. We will also attempt to provide free admission to all artists who participated in the open call. Beyond this, attending Performersion is only possible with a ticket for re:publica.
The complete schedule of programming will soon be available here.
