Contemporary Further Training, Education and Courses of Study

Producing the performing arts without the personnel and material resources of a large institution requires an extraordinarily large palette of abilities and specialist knowledge that is not provided in many course of study and training programs. There are always new administrative challenges to overcome. The artists who are at the center of these processes must deal with these given circumstances although the opportunities for further training and additional education in these areas are highly restricted when they exist at all. In order to establish a solidary transfer of knowledge, professionalize the community and make this available to a large number of participants, the Bundesverband Freier Darstellender Künste and the Bündnis Internationaler Produktionshäuser have founded two complex initiatives: “On The Road” and the “Producer’s Academy”. The Master’s course of study “Spiel und Objekt” (Game and Object) has been added to the puppetry department of the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts as a practical form of academic reflection and utilization of the exciting field between computer games, puppetry and performance. The course of study and opportunities for further education named will be presented over the course of this panel discussion.
