Independent Games - New Platforms for Performative Play

Berlin features a vibrant community of independent writers and designers of computer games. Not only are the working and living conditions of this community similar to those of the independent performing arts community; the forms and contents of these games are also not created and designed according to what is suitable for the masses and the market. With the A MAZE festival, we have found a cooperation partner who has networked many of the members of the independent games community. The curator Merle Leufgen gives an overview of this community’s current status and presents some of the most innovative and performative new games and game concepts.
