The Art of Budgeting with Little Money
The Art of Budgeting with Little Money
February 4 and 5, respectively from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
Berlin’s funding pool might be drying up, but does that mean your creative dreams have to? Absolutely not! If you’re ready to turn financial lemons into artistic lemonade, this workshop is perfect for you. How can I produce a show with a low budget? This two-day workshop blends practical guidance with theoretical insights, helping you navigate the art of budgeting. Whether you’re working on an existing project, starting fresh, or simply curious about production, this hands-on approach will give you the tools to work smartly and creatively. This workshop is ideal for producers and artists new to budgeting and production as well as for experienced creatives who are looking to refine their skills and share insights with others. We welcome knowledge-sharing and collaboration throughout the workshop – learning together is part of the experience!
The first day covers the essential production basics, including taxes, rules, and legal considerations. We will share tips, tricks and strategies for managing finances effectively and explore a custom, easy-to-use budget calculator (yours to keep!) to streamline your planning. Moreover, there will be insights into what a dream-world production budget looks like for inspiration as well as time for reflection, questions and group discussions.
The second day focuses on practical application: Participants will work on their own project or use a sample project as a guide. They will learn to break down every detail in order to understand what’s truly necessary for the project. Finally, they will create both a big-budget and a lean-budget plan in order to explore different production strategies.
