Building Apps for Cultural Projects

With Holger Heißmeyer (artist, programmer) and Jakob Wierzba (artist, programmer) as a guest

March 4 and 5, 2024, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm each day

When does it make sense to develop apps for artistic projects or cultural mediation ideas? And how can this be approached so that a new and lengthy programming phase does not have to be planned for in every project? These are questions that the team of Interkit has posed to itself, which has developed an open source framework with which apps for artistic formats can be created and operated in a visual interface using funding from Kultfurstiftung des Bundes, the German Federal Cultural Foundation.
This two-day practical workshop will first look at basic conceptual questions, will present sample projects and will also invite the participants to experiment with the programming of audio walks, multi-user chats and scavenger hunts as well as to expand upon them. Interkit is based on open web technologies and is both programmable as well as expandable. The visual programming basis also makes it accessible for non-coders and is open for your ideas.

The workshop is suitable both for beginners as well as have advanced knowledge and experience. Please share your ideas, questions and specific projects with us when you register to attend the event. We do ask you to bring your own laptops with you.

In German spoken language, it is possible to ask questions and make comments using English spoken language and the programming language is English.
