Digital Symposium On Tour – Current Realities, New Plans and Old Utopias of International Mobility in the Independent Performing Arts Community II

The perspectives on touring in the independent performing arts community have changed radically in recent weeks – and all the same, we still would like to come together virtually and, especially at this moment, talk about what the future of national and international mobility in the independent performing arts can look like in the future. Mobility continues to increase in significance: touring increases the visibility of productions and often seems absolutely necessary in order to deal with a network world in an artistic manner. In addition, cooperations promote intercultural exchange and enrich the artistic and personal development of those involved. These clearly recognizable opportunities, however, also face complex challenges.
What strategies can be developed for international work? How can the current situation be used for strategic planning and research? How can the existing networks of producers, presenters, residencies and artists be expanded in a sustainable manner? Where will the funding for this come from? How can collaborative and sustainable working processes in global contexts be designed in the future? And, what structures need to be created in order to do so?
