European Guest Curators Join Tanztage Berlin 2026

January 8 to 24, 2026

The Performing Arts Program, in cooperation with the Contemporary Music Theater Berlin e. V., is covering the travel and accommodation costs of four selected curators from other European countries in order to support on-site exchange and to enhance the visibility of Berlin’s music theater productions among international curators.

On January 9, 2026, as part of Tanztage Berlin, the meet-up “Tanztage’s Kitchen” will take place. The audience is invited to the kitchen on the third floor of Sophiensæle. Over coffee and cake, the Tanztage team, artists, and three of the invited curators come together with the audience in an intimate setting to talk about the festival program.

Invited Curators

  • Louis Schou-Hansen (choreographer, co-founder and curator of the Mindeater Festival in Oslo, Norway)
  • Clayton Lee (curator, producer, and performance artist, as well as artistic director of the Fierce Festival in Birmingham, UK, since 2024)
  • Karina Sarkissova (curator of the Stockholm-based festival My Wild Flag, Stockholm)

About Tanztage Berlin

Tanztage Berlin 2026 will take place from January 8 to 24, 2026, at the Sophiensæle. The festival presents new works by emerging Berlin-based dance artists and celebrates the 30th anniversary of the festival under the artistic direction of Mateusz Szymanówka. The program features a wide range of pieces by up-and-coming choreographers and provides an important platform for the independent scene, with a focus on labor, diversity, and new production practices.
