Why, where & how to present artistic work?! - An exchange meeting on (inter)national distribution

Organized by Dachverband Tanz Deutschland, in cooperation with Reso – Tanznetzwerk Schweiz and the Performing Arts Program Berlin, the exchange meeting is aimed at self-employed producers, managers, distributors, agents and staff members of independent production offices and agencies in the performing arts, who (want to) promote and show artistic work internationally. The exchange meeting is designed to help producers take their first steps in international distribution, while welcoming participants at all levels of experience.

Stéphane Noël (Reso – Dance Network Switzerland) and Carmen Mehnert and Anne Schmidt (PLAN B – Creative Agency for Performing Arts) will tackle crucial questions around international distribution in the performing arts: 

Why do I want to bring artistic work out onto the international market? How do I get started? What are opportunities to get in touch with presenters and other professionals? Which questions should be addressed and answered before going international? What concrete elements must be explored, such as budgets, legal formalities and promotion materials? The discussion will be inspired by the handbooks Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Distribution (But Were Afraid to Ask) by Reso and On Tour! Tools, Tips and Strategies for Distribution Work by Berlin Performing Arts Program. On Tour! will be presented for the first time at the event and will be available as a PDF and printed brochure from the end of November.

Plan B will share hands-on experiences in international distribution, and we’ll make sure there’s plenty of time and space for participants to exchange ideas and perspectives. We can`t explore the whole universe of international distribution or create individual roadmaps in a two-hour event, however we aim to inspire you and provide guidance to help you start this adventure.

A qualification format of the Dachverband Tanz Deutschland within the framework of the initiative InfoPlus and the funding programme Kreativ-Transfer and cooperation with Reso – Dance Network Switzerland and Berlin Performing Arts Program of LAFT Berlin (Berlin State Association for the Independent Performing Arts e.V.).

The event is fully booked. You are welcome to put your name on the waiting list: unti 16 November 2025 via the online form. As always, participation is free of charge, but the number of participants is limited. Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Language

The event will be held in English spoken language. Questions and comments in German are welcome.
