Feminist Leadership in the Arts - Feministische Führung in den Künsten

With Katja Sonnemann (facilitator, organizaitonal advisor, teacher) and Sophia Stepf (director, teacher)

Two-Day Workshop: June 8 and 10, always from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm

Everyone is talking about new leadership models. But where do they lead? And with what attitude? Female Leadership exposes traditional notions of power and strives for a socially just world in which neither people nor natural resources are exploited and the equality of all genders is achieved. In art, power relationships are often made the topic of discussion, exposed and criticized. Idealistic messages and visions for a better world are developed. But do our working methods correspond to these ideals? Are our rehearsal and production space critical of power? In what ways do we still reproduce patriarchal working methods and power dynamics ourselves?

In this workshop, you will receive an introduction to the foundations of female leadership culture through practical exercises and reflections. In the workshop, we will concern ourselves with internalized patriarchal conditioning, terms of power, privileges and intersectionality, inner work, care, transparency, responsibility (accountability) and decision-making. Together, we will practice the establishment of feminist spaces with tools from feminist leadership, sociocracy, feedback methods and new work, amongst others. We want to create a space for shared learning and reflection.

Female Leadership is a practice for everyone independent of gender – men* are also explicitly invited to take part. The workshop is intended for everyone who works in leadership positions in the performing arts or would like to in future, for example, directors, artistic directors, choreographers, dramaturgs, producers, et cetera.

In German spoken language, it is possible to ask questions and make comments using English spoken language
