Information and Networking Event Strengthening the Independent Performing Arts Community

Over the coming weeks, everyone will be thinking about the upcoming elections for Berlin’s House of Representatives on September 20. Before the elections, the campaign #DeineStimmeFürKultur is making the needs and importance of Berlin’s cultural landscape visible from September 1 to 12 as part of its second week of action.

On September 4, we, together with partners from Berlin’s cultural sector, invite you to join us at the location in Mitte of theaterhaus berlin for the information and networking event Strengthening the Independent Arts Community to create space for information, advisement, encounters and exchange as part of the week of action.

Beginning at 12pm, Berliner Spielplan Audiodeskription invites you to take part in an interactive experiential parkour which allows you to playfully experience how everyday life and attending cultural events can feel from the perspective of people with visual impairments. In addition, there will be space for discussions with people with visual impairments as well as conversations with politicians about cultural participation and accessibility.

The shared networking and exchange meeting will begin at 3pm. LAFT Berlin and the Berlin Performing Arts Program will have their own information and advisement tables and present their opportunities, publications and activities. Anyone who would like to set off on a digital journey of discovery through the independent performing arts can try out the web game SPIELRAUM FREIE SZENE BERLIN.

Szenografie-Bund, Bühnenmütter* and Raumbüro Freie Szene will all also have an information table and will inform you about their advisement and networking opportunities for fair, family-friendly and sustainable working conditions in theater and in the independent arts community.

Förderband e.V., the organization behind projects such as Berlin für Blinde, Wasserspeicher Prenzlauer Berg and Berlin erzählen for many years, for provide information about their previous work in the association and opportunities to work with the association in the future with a membership, new ideas and projects.

theaterhaus berlin will also have an info booth and will open up selected rehearsal spaces as well as the open-air stage for a look at the current rehearsal processes of Jasmin Hawlicek and her new piece DIE HÖLLE DER MÄDCHEN – DAS MÄDCHEN-KZ UCKERMARK, Ashley Tembas Dream in Man, part of this year’s schedule of programming of Kuyum Tanzplattform 2026, as well as Ana Pogorelić’s and Aleksander Zain’s project The Maids, a choreo-dramatic adaption of Jean Genet’s theater of the absurd classic The Maids. The afternoon will then come to an end with shared conversations and discussions.

A note on accessibility

The location in Mitte is only partially accessible at the moment. There is no elevator. The premises are accessible via ramps, but the sanitary facilities are only partially barrier-free.
