Information Event: KiA Program – An Overview of the Funding Goals, Formats and Making Applications

With Dagmar Domrös (Theater o.N.)

Since 2023, Berlin’s Senate Department for Culture and Community has been funding children’s theater, youth theater and puppet theater as well as members of the independent performing arts community working in the field of theater for young audiences. This funding program has set itself the goal of developing previously overlooked areas within Berlin’s districts and filling them with opportunities to see theater as well as to strengthen the existing locations, increase the participation of children and young people and improve the working and living conditions of those working in the fields of children’s theater, youth theater and puppet theater. To do so, four funding formats are offered within the scope of the program: performance fees, performance venue funding, project funding for the field of culture as well as a funding program for developing concepts. The individual districts of Berlin will each administrate the funding separately. In the information event, the KiA-Förderung program will be presented and the details about the funding applications as well as the goals of the funding program will be explained.
