Just Fund It – Reforms Nationwide
Just Fund It – Reforms Nationwide
In our three-part digital information series Just Fund It, we will present current developments in public funding law with specific examples from Berlin and the entire Federal Republic of Germany. Together with specialists from the areas of the administration, the practical field and civil society, we want to ease any fear of contact, provide insights and show that making changes is worth it.
It is not only in Berlin that bureaucratic processes are being looked at critically. People throughout the entire country are working hard to eliminate unnecessary obstacles, simplify processes and reduce the amount of effort required to get things done. We will present the resulting structures, such as RE:FORM, the Arbeitsgemeinschaft für wirtschaftliche Verwaltung (the Work Community for Business Administration) or the Verwaltungsrebell*innen (Administrative Rebels). They will share their strategies, essential fields of action and good-practice examples on the state and federal levels.
More about the Information Series Just Fund It
The foundation of financed work in the art and culture landscape as well as in many other fields in civic society is public funding law. It determines the framework conditions of the work in the independent performing arts in not inconsiderable ways: whether this concerns the beginning of the activities, the amount of the fees or the time of the project realization – many aspects of our work are regulated by public funding law. The bureaucratic administrative efforts surrounding funding, often called the “funding jungle” are often quite disproportional to the amount of funding and the possible work processes.
This discrepancy has been pointed out by representatives from the field of art and culture as well as by non-profit organizations, local authorities and even state and federal ministries.
In recent years, some structures and projects have emerged that are working toward specific approaches to solutions and simplifications. Some of the initial suggestions are already being implemented. They promise to significantly improve our working processes and we want to tell you all about them!
