Networks for Democracies – Looking Beyond the Elections
Networks for Democracies – Looking Beyond the Elections
We cordially invite you to a networking event followed by the LAFT Berlin general meeting on November 18, 2026.
The most recent election results show clearly how strongly antidemocratic and neo-right-wing positions have gained in influence. They have received significantly more votes in Saxony-Anhalt and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, as well as in Berlin. That is reason enough to come together and talk about the consequences of the elections for art and culture: what effects do these developments specifically have for the work of artists and cultural institutions? How can these be faced, internationally and interdisciplinarily, and what are the prospects?
Before the start of the general meeting of LAFT Berlin, the Berlin Performing Arts Program invites you to listen to what the current challenges, emotions and needs are and could be with keynote speeches and insight into the work of representatives of fredak-mv (Landesverband Freie Darstellende Künste Mecklenburg-Vorpommern e. V.), LANZE (Landeszentrum Freies Theater Sachsen-Anhalt e. V.) as well as DIE VIELEN. Afterward, there will be the opportunity to enter into discussion and imagine possible joint strategies for action.
The central focus should be placed on the question of how we can collaborate beyond symbolic announcements of solidarity: what are artists and cultural advocacy groups need on-site in the respective German federal states? What forms of mutual support and collaboration are necessary, sustainable and reasonable? What synergies can be created and which alliances can be forged for the future?
The goal of the meeting is to strengthen the cultural advocacy groups and existing networks and to provide space for a shared discussion about the election results.
Featuring ideas and insights into the work of representatives from fredak-mv (Landesverband Freie Darstellende Künste Mecklenburg-Vorpommern e. V.), LANZE (Landeszentrum Freies Theater Sachsen-Anhalt e. V.) and DIE VIELEN
