Open Call: "Bridging The Scenes" Delegation Trip to the Malá Inventura Festival 2025 in Prague

Berlin Meets Prague! As part of Bridging the Scenes* and with the goal of further networking the independent performing arts communities in Prague and Berlin, we are offering eight Berlin-based producers and curators working within the independent performing arts community with the opportunity to attend the Czech Malá Inventura festival in Prague. During the festival, the participants will have the opportunity to become acquainted with the aesthetics and working methods of the other country and to take part in events for visiting industry professionals. Local experts for the performing arts will introduce the group to the city and bring them into contact with colleagues and the local independent performing arts community.

The Malá Inventura festival will be held for the 23rd time in 2025 and brings together the most important events and performances from the independent performing arts community that have been created in the independent performing arts community of Prague and beyond in the last year. The festival is organized by Nová síť, a program created to support and empower the independent performing arts within Prague and Czechia and which is connected with PAP Berlin through a long-term partnership.

The Itinerary

The Malá Inventura Festival will take place from February 20 to 28, 2025.

Participants are expected to travel to Prague from February 22 to 26, 2025, get to know the community and its members and, in coordination with the festival, take part in the schedule of events for visiting industry professionals and additional events. Travel expenses and overnight accommodations will be covered. A detailed schedule of events for the trip will be announced after the registration and selection of the participants.

Important Notes

  • Those who would like to travel on the trip must be able to be there for the entire duration of the delegation trip (expected from February 22 to 26, 2025). A shorter period of participation will be only be considered in cases where there are very compelling reasons.

More about Bridging the Scenes

Bridging the Scenes is a network consisting of the ACT Festival (Sofia, Bulgaria), Malá Inventura (Prague, Czech Republic), Selected Works (Copenhagen and Aarhus, Denmark) and the Berlin Performing Arts Festival. Its focus is the establishment of a sustainable connection between the communities of the independent performing arts in the four European capitals. All participating festivals and organizations increase the visibility of their local community and actively draw attention to the cultural policy dimension of working independently. Reciprocal visits by artists and culture managers from all of the cities promote solidarity and professional discussions of current aesthetics, societal and artistic discourses as well as cultural policy.Through regular meetings with the festival management, continuous working conversation about shared concerns and a wide variety of exchange programs for members of the communities, individual competencies are supported and, at the same time, the exchange of knowledge between the respective structures is strengthened.
