Open Call: „Introducing Berlin's Independent Performing Arts Community” at the 2025 IETM Plenary Meeting in Berlin

From May 15 to 17, 2025, we are co-organizing the 2025 IETM Plenary Meeting – together with IETM (international network for contemporary performing arts), BFDK (Bundesverband Freie Darstellende Künste, the Federal Association for the Independent Performing Arts) and ufaFabrik. We are very pleased that this event will take place in Berlin again after 10 years!

In light of the current challenges going on in Berin right now in terms of cultural policy, we have decided to organize a special edition of the Plenary Meeting that focuses on collaborative cooperation. On May 16 and 17, there will be an extensive conference program with the overarching theme “Living and working in times of change and crisis” for international guests as well as for the local and national independent performing arts communities, organized by the Berlin Performing Arts Program.

On May 15, 2025, we would like to offer participants the opportunity to get to know the artistic work, the most important discourses, spaces and structures of the performing arts in the host city of Berlin. We don't have much time and unfortunately our resources and capacities are limited in 2025, so we are hoping for your support at this point!

Open Call: Introducing Berlin's Independent Performing Arts Community

We are looking for non-artistic contributions that provide insights into the independent performing arts community in Berlin. These could be thematic talks, workshops, walks, guided tours, picnics with artists or your teams, gladly in cooperation with other actors – if it makes thematic and/or logistical sense.

  • WHEN: May 15, 2025 (during the day: 2-hour to ¾-day formats)
  • WHERE: Berlin
  • HOW: the contributions are your sole responsibility (programme, organisation, financing).
  • WHAT: Everything that is conceivable and/or feasible and presents Berlin's independent performing arts (see above).
  • FOR WHOM: an international performing arts audience (the format should be designed for a minimum of 20 to a maximum of 70 people).

If you are interested and have the opportunity to make an offer to the participants, please submit your information via this form ASAP, and by February 10, 2025 at the latest. We expect up to 500 participants from all over the world for the 2025 IETM Plenary Meeting – which means that your ideas and formats are very welcome indeed.
