Open Call “Looking Out – 2021 Exchange Between Schleswig-Holstein and Berlin”

Looking Out – Exchange Between the Independent Performing Arts Communities in Schleswig-Holstein and Berlin includes an invitation of selected representatives from Schleswig-Holstein to the 9th Industry Get-Together of the Independent Performing Arts Community in Berlin from October 27 to 30, 2021 as well as a trip by delegates from Berlin to Lübeck and Flensburg from November 11 to 13, 2021.

As has been the case with previous editions, this year’s exchange format is also aimed at supporting new interregional connections between the independent performing arts communities in the German-speaking world and opening up spaces for encounters, exchanges and the transfer of knowledge. With an eye toward the motto of this year’s Industry Get-Together, Exceptional?! – Rules of an Independent Performing Arts Community, the exchange trip should provide an invitation to reflect on one’s own context with all of the accompanying standards and principles and, with feedback from the outside, approach the future with a fresh look at one’s own structure and the independent rules within it.
Members of the independent performing arts communities in Schleswig-Holstein and Berlin can enter into contact with each other at events that rapidly follow one another, get to know each other and illuminate and discuss the rules and open spaces in the independent performing arts communities together.
The participants in Looking Out will take part in hybrid as well as live events in Berlin while formats with small groups are primarily planned in Lübeck and Flensburg.

The Program Contains

October 27 to 31, 2021
The Looking Out participants from Schleswig-Holstein will travel to the Industry Get-Together in Berlin, get to know the participants from Berlin and take part in the conference’s schedule of programming and additional events together, as arranged.

November 11 to 13, 2021
The delegation from Berlin will travel to Lübeck and Flensburg, take part in the exclusive exchange program together with the participants from Schleswig-Holstein and will receive the opportunity to continue the discussions started in Berlin here in order to firm up newly made contacts.

The detailed schedules for both trips will be announced after the registration and selection of the participants.

Application

All members of Berlin's independent performing arts community are warmly invited to take part in Looking Out!. In order to apply to join the delegation to Lübeck and Flensburg, we ask you to send us a brief statement of motivation (max. 2 DIN A4 pages) that indicates your specific interests in participating in an exchange with the independent performing arts community of Schleswig-Holstein. Participants from Berlin who are applying should ensure that they are also able to participant in the events within the schedule of programming of the Industry Get-Together in Berlin in addition to the trip to Schleswig-Holstein.
