Open Call: Shared Trade Fair Stand at the internationale tanzmesse nrw in Düsseldorf

The internationale tanzmesse nrw (the North-Rhine Westphalia International Dance Trade Fair) is put on by the nrw landesbuero tanz (the North-Rhine Westphalia State Office for Dance) and is the largest professional meeting for contemporary dance. This dance trade fair is an important meeting place for international dancers and dance makers as a forum for exchange, the transfer of knowledge and networking. The up to 2,000 international presenters and visitors come to Düsseldorf every two years at the end of August and present a wide spectrum of aesthetic styles as well as artistic practices.

From August 31 to September 3 2022, the Berlin Performing Arts Program will operate a shared trade fair booth at the internationalen tanzmesse nrw where Berlin-based artists can enter into conversation with potential programmers and cooperation partners.

A prerequisite for taking part is a long history of professional work within the independent performing arts and a primary residence in Berlin. In addition, each participant must have at least one production that has already premiered and is capable of being toured that can be presented at the trade fair with corresponding print and possibly video trailer material (max. three minutes in length).

We would like to give as many artists as possible the opportunity to take part. We do, however, reserve the right to make a selection on the basis of the promotional material provided in the event that there are more applicants than there is space. In the event of restrictions to the number of visitors due to measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we also reserve the right to assign spots at the trade fair stand on a day-by-day basis. In any event, we ask the registered groups to please send only one representative to Düsseldorf.

Anyone who would like to take part is asked to please send a binding application including links with informative digital promotional material (trailer, websites, flyers in PDF form, et cetera - and please send large files in the form of a link to download the files) with the subject “internationale tanzmesse nrw” by April 10, 2022 to: messe [at] pap-berlin.de.

We will then need additional print promotional material from all of the selected artists (max. 100 flyers / brochures or similar materials and possibly 3 or 4 small posters). These should be delivered to the office of the Berlin Performing Arts Program no later than two weeks before the trade fair.
