Seminar Series: Social Media Marketing for Do-It-Yourselfers

With Romina Geppert (social media manager, dancer, choreographer)

November 21/28 & December 5/12, respectively from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
In German spoken language, it is possible to ask questions and make comments using English spoken language.

Social media PR is also increasingly being left to the artists and culture makers themselves, meaning that learning how to work confidently within the digital attention economy can scarcely still be avoided. The platform Instagram has increased strongly in significance, especially for visually oriented work. But how do I use this platform successfully without disappearing amongst all of the other users? What relevant features are there for developing strategies for an effective usage? Over the course of four modules that build on each other, the expert will teach relevant Instagram basics, as well as techniques and additional tools for efficient time management when working with the platform. With a hands-on approach, she will show participants how to take charge of their social media PR in the future and how to create a secondary source of income in the field.

The participants are asked to bring a digital end device with them and, insofar as this already exists, an Instagram account.

Module 1: Let's get it started
November 21, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
Where do we start if we want to use our Instagram account professionally? What are the benefits for us and why Instagram? On the first day, we start with the basics of using Instagram. These include clarifying relevant settings, setting up or customizing our profile and formulating marketing goals: What do we want to achieve by using Instagram and how do we achieve this? To do this, we adapt your personal, existing communication strategy to a (new) social media strategy. Of course, hashtags, geotags and Instagram's range of helpful features should not be missed when getting started with social media marketing.

Module 2: Curate it!
November 28, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm

How do I post correctly (&) professionally? On the second day of the series, we will focus intensively on posting. Because: Posting is not just posting – posting means curating. You will first learn what needs to be considered when implementing posts, stories and reels and what the differences are between these three features. We then look at the relevance of the strategic selection of photo and video material and take a look at the most helpful apps and case studies. A look at the appropriate wording of captions is also part of this module.

Module 3: Insights
December 5, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm

How do I gain followers, when should I post and who is this algorithm? If we want to use Instagram sensibly for our professional purposes, we can't avoid the “Insight” section. The third day of the seminar is all about analyzing your reach, your followers, the ideal time to post and much more. Knowledge of the insights and features covered so far in the series is essential for gaining reach, likes, shares and followers without monetary investment. This is not cost-intensive, but it is time-consuming. So how can we get our Instagram accounts to grow with less time and less cost? Placing ads are the deal and will also be a topic of the module.

Module 4: Let's go!
December 12, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm

The differences between stories, reels and posts are clarified, we know our followers and know the best posting times as well as the do's and don'ts of captions. On the last day of the seminar series, we get down to business: Three posts will be created and discussed together using the new knowledge about curation, image selection and language. In the course of this, we will analyze your Instagram accounts and think about potential optimizations. A special focus in this module is on the conception of reels.
