Sustainable Producing – Measures and Methods

Are you responsible for the topic of sustainability in a cultural institution and are you on the lookout for methodical knowledge for participatory transformation processes? Are you asking yourselves which specific tools for creating work sustainably in your own collective are out there? Would you like to know which steps you could take in the organization of your event or your festival when it comes to making changes to meet the requirements for sustainability? We are very much looking forward to taking a look at these and other questions and topics on the basis of the new list of measures "Nachhaltig produzieren" ("Producing Sustainably") of the Bundesverbands Freie Darstellende Künste (BFDK, the German Federal Association for the Independent Performing Arts) and the Starter Toolkit for sustainability workshops in cultural institutions by the Hochschule für nachhaltige Entwicklung Eberswalde (the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development).

A collection of various associations, advocacy groups, production locations and performance venues, artists and groups working within the field of the performing arts have collectively developed a list of measures, which will be published in July and which takes their various perspectives and experiences into consideration. The Starter Toolkit, on the other hand, was created over the course of a cooperation of the Aktionsnetzwerk Nachhaltigkeit in Kultur und Medien (Action Network for Sustainability in Culture and Media) and the Hochschule für nachhaltige Entwicklung Eberswalde. It is high time to take a closer look at both of these tools over the course of this workshop, where you can try out individual methods on a practical basis and test them out in terms of the needs and work contexts of the participants!

This workshop is especially intended for emerging sustainability officers and advisors in cultural institutions as well as for everyone who is looking to implement and realize sustainability strategies in their collectives, production locations, performance venues and other structures within the cultural sector.
