Text for Portfolios and Self-Presentations

With Elisa Ricci (curator, dance scholar, author)

How do I write texts that vividly describe my work and my artistic profile? Which texts are needed for different occasions, how do I present myself appropriately to different readers? This writing workshop is intended for artists and culture makers who would like to work on their texts for portfolios and self-presentations – for their websites, coming applications or promotional purposes. In doing so, a completely new portfolio can be created or an existing portfolio can be revised and freshened up. The focus is placed on the development of texts that are rooted in the artistic practice of the participants which are both suitable for the expectations of different contexts and which can be easily expanded or adapted.

The foundation of the workshop is the material that the participants bring – from texts that are already structured to fragmentary notes and sketches. Together, we will consider: what is already good? What can be improved? How can a clear structure be developed successfully that can be expanded easily as your work grows? How do you write modules within which texts can be adapted quickly and fluidly to the different expectations of different calls for applications and readers?

Within small groups as well as one whole group, we will use the synergies and competencies of the group, which will be supplemented through discussions, feedback and advisement. In addition, the participants are asked to bring their own writing tools – for example, a laptop or digital end device or a pen and paper.

In German spoken language, it is possible to ask questions and make comments using English spoken language
