Think Tank & Networking Meeting for Spanish-Speaking Members of the Independent Performing Arts Community

The number of Latin American producers, curators, artists and operators of event locations that have dedicated themselves to the independent performing arts and chosen Berlin as the place for their professional development is growing every single day. Many of them already had an established career in their countries of origin and have been forced to start over again from the beginning. How does the process of migration affect the professional development in the performing arts? What does it mean to “start over again from the beginning”? What strategies are necessary in order to (re)integrate yourself within the system? How is it possible to establish networks of solidarity that make this new integration easier?

We are inviting curators, producers, venue operators, and artists to discuss these and many other additional questions with us. Afterward, there will be the opportunity to network and exchange while enjoying drinks and snacks.

With Laura Cecilia Nicolás (independent producer, production manager for Something Great), Lucila Guichón (artist, independent producer, Mestizx Arts Platform/WIPCOOP), Martha Hincapié Charry (artist, curator, choreographer, performer and researcher, director of the Plataforma festival), Silvia Ospina (dancer, choreographer, co-artistic director of Cordillera), Leicy Valenzuela (theatre maker, theatre pedagogue). Moderation: Belén Marinato (Performing Arts Programm Berlin).
