Open Call: Artistic Program Contributions for the Opening of SPIELRAUM on September 10, 2025

The second edition of SPIELRAUM – The Days of the Independent Performing Arts Community in Berlin will take place from September 10 to 21, 2025. SPIELRAUM is created together with the community and coordinated by the Berlin Performing Arts Program. 

For the opening celebration on September 10  at Globe Berlin, we are looking for artistic contributions from Berlin’s independent performing arts community. 

The artistic contributions can be existing scenes or excerpts from productions – what is important is a recognizable reference to the thematic orientation and the program of SPIELRAUM or a special suitability for the scope of an opening celebration. 
Both brief moments on stage or contributions that can accompany the evening and its program are conceivable (e.g. performative impulses, artistic speeches, actions, mini performances of all genres, walk acts, music, et cetera). They should be technically uncomplicated and be able to be realized by the submitters on the evening of 10 September 2025 without extensive rehearsals on site.

What should be submitted?

• Existing information material or brief sketches of ideas in German or in English, including information about the amount of work required and the realizability during the opening celebration of SPIELRAUM on September 10 (duration, number of people involved, stage technology required, et cetera)
• A short description of the person or people involved and/or organization(s) including web links

How do things go from here?

• The team of the Berlin Performing Arts Program will select one or more programming contributions that are appropriate for the planned opening celebration. A fee will be paid for the realization and will be determined dependent upon the number of people involved and the amount of effort required for the implementation. 

Where should the concept sketches be submitted and until when can they be submitted?

• The application deadline is August 12, 2025 and they must be submitted in the form of an email with the subject heading of “Eröffnungsbeitrag” and sent to: spielraum [at] pap-berlin.de
