Delegation Trips

A Bridge Between Local Members and the International Independent Performing Arts

Our delegation trips are programs that allow Berlin-based artists and initiatives to present themselves on international stages and build new networks. These trips offer a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in different art and cultural scenes, establish partnerships, and position one's work within an international context.

International and regional festivals not only showcase new productions and diverse aesthetics, but they also provide the perfect platform for presenting one's work to a wide professional audience and gaining new insights for artistic practice—both locally and internationally.

Each year, we organize delegation trips where Berlin-based artists and members of Berlin’s independent scene travel to international festivals to present their work and establish new networks. So far, we have conducted several delegation trips within two projects: PRALIN and Bridging the Scenes:

PRALIN

The exchange project PRALIN promotes networking between the independent performing arts scenes in Prague and Berlin. The project partners, Nová sít' (Prague) and the Performing Arts Program of LAFT Berlin, organize various networking opportunities: Delegation trips to the Malá Inventura Festival and the Performing Arts Festival Berlin, as well as professional events in both cities, offer participants the chance to exchange ideas and make connections.

Through continuous support and information sharing, the collaboration between the two cities is strengthened over the long term. Additionally, guest exchanges and showcases are promoted by supporting delegation participants in inviting productions to their home city.

Bridging the Scenes

Bridging the Scenes is a network of four international festivals: ACT Festival (Sofia, Bulgaria), Malá Inventura (Prague, Czech Republic), Selected Works (Copenhagen and Aarhus, Denmark), and Performing Arts Festival Berlin (Berlin, Germany).

Through mutual visits by members of the independent scene, the exchange of aesthetics, societal discourses, and cultural policies is fostered. The goal is to establish sustainable connections between the independent performing arts in these cities and to strengthen the local scenes.
