Delegation Trip to the Festival d'Avignon 2025

From July 6 to 11, 2025, the Berlin Performing Arts Program will travel with a five-member delegation of multidisciplinary artists from Berlin’s independent performing arts scene to the Festival d’Avignon in southern France.

Festival d’Avignon

The Festival d’Avignon is one of the world’s most renowned international festivals for the performing arts. Over 400 events occur at various venues throughout the city and the surrounding region—including gymnasiums, monasteries, chapels, gardens, quarries, and churches. The 79th edition of the festival will be held from July 5 to 26, 2025.

Program of the Berlin Delegation

The program begins with the digital workshop "All About the Major Avignon Festival," led by Victor Leclère, co-director of the production and distribution company La Magnanerie and a producer with over 15 years of festival experience.

While in Avignon, the delegation will meet with representatives from ONDA – Office National de Diffusion Artistique (the French national office for artistic distribution). This will be followed by a roundtable discussion on the topic “What Role(s) Do International Festivals Play Today?” The delegation will also attend the OFF Festival together and visit selected venues such as Le Train Bleu and La Manufacture.

Another highlight is the collaboration with Kultur | lx – Arts Council Luxembourg. On July 10, the Berlin and Luxembourg delegations will meet for an exchange in Avignon.
