Documenting and Archiving Artistic Work

With Andrea Keiz (Videographer)

Documenting and archiving your own artistic work is a fundamental and important part of artistic practice. We need this for our self-presentations, communication with funders, programmers and audience. Each artistic signature thus also needs an individually tailor documentation concept.

In the workshop, we will learn about different forms of documentation together. Using pen and paper, image and audio, we will examine their respective advantages and disadvantages and consider which are best suited for our own work. Together, we will look at how we can provide others with an adequate and expressive impression of our work with our documentary materials and how materials can be prepared for different purposes and target groups – festivals, audiences, funding institutions, arching. On the basis of practical exercises with text, photography, video, sound and movement, we will look for suitable forms that can optimally represent our work and clarify the methods and techniques that can be planned and used.

This workshop is intended for members of the independent performing arts community who would like to document and archive past work or current rehearsal processes for presentation or work purposes.
The participants are asked to wear comfortable clothing for possible movement exercises and to bring the tools and devices with them that they would normally use to document their work – paper, laptop, smartphone, et cetera.

In German spoken language, it is possible to ask questions and make comments using English spoken language
