Save the Date: Symposium on Artistic Community Work
Save the Date: Symposium on Artistic Community Work
What does it mean to work within an (independent) art form that creates communication and on a form of communication that is (independent) art?
Over the course of a symposium in cooperation with the Neuköllner Oper, we would like to dedicate ourselves to precisely this topic, which we have already tried out on a practical basis with the Freie Szene Tagen (The Berlin Independent Performing Arts Community Days) and the community and neighborhood projects: different varieties of the communicative dialogues between artistic production contexts and audiences.
With experts from the practice of theater and associated fields, cultural administrators and politicians, we would like to share some good practice examples of successful community work: outreach measures such as artistic interventions in the neighborhood, participatory opportunities such as performance clubs and diverse workshop formats through to the provision of resources such as spaces to communities and their active responsibility in the creation of the schedule of programming.
Subsequently, we would like to look into the potentials for the common good of an active cultural participation of diverse groups of stakeholders just as much as we intend to look into the practical pitfalls in the implementation following the associated institutional transformations and the conditions for success of corresponding artisic communication and community work.
We are planning to publish a publication on the topic after the symposium.
More information will follow soon here.
