How To: Trans* Sensitive Practices in the Performing Arts
How To: Trans* Sensitive Practices in the Performing Arts
Trans* artists experience many challenges both publicly and privately: from forced outings through deadnames in application processes and writing invoices to costumes, movement sequences and photos that trigger gender-specific dysphoria. The performing arts, as a working environment that brings together both body-based media and names as “trademarks”, bundle moments and structures that include a transphobia which is deeply societally inscribed. In teams consisting of cis and TIN* (trans*, inter, non-binary) people, communicative needs arise that can be new and feel uncomfortable for many.
This introductory workshop is intended for cis artists and producers who would like to reflect upon and improve their own working contexts in terms of accessibility and safety for and with TIN* people. In this practical workshop, AruRay Tormann will share their own expertise from non-binary networking in the performing arts and practice an appreciative way of dealing with TIN* living realities in the working context, such as through the use of neopronouns and gender-neutral formulations.
In German spoken language, it is possible to ask questions and make comments using English spoken language
