International Guest Curator Joins "Un-renewable Energies" Dance Festival
The Berlin Performing Arts Program, in cooperation with Making a Difference, is covering the travel and accommodation costs for Scottish curator Louise (Lou) Honeybul. Lou will join the "Un-renewable Energies" dance festival as a scientific and artistic accessibility expert, bringing perspectives from the UK into the programme. This initiative fosters knowledge exchange between German and Scottish artists and organisers.
Lou has been invited to present their 'cripability' practice in collaboration with Rosemarie Eberl. They will also take part in Irene Giro's "Perspektiven" series, the Berlin "behindert und verrückt feiern" parade (celebrating disability and neurodiversity), the symposium, and various "Bettaudienzen" (audience-focused events) as part of the festival:
October 9, 2025: Bettaudienz with Carolin Hartmann
October 10-12, 2025: Symposium – On Crip Technique, Knowledge and Expertise
October 14, 2025: Perspektiven – Fly Paths: On Drift Time and Co-Presence in Shared Spaces
October 15, 2025: Perspektiven – Cripability
October 16, 2025: Cross-community exchange with Anajara Amarante
About the Festival
Making a Difference is hosting the dance festival "Un-renewable Energies," which centers time, energy, and resources from disabled, Deaf, and chronically ill perspectives. Over four weeks, the festival decompresses what often happens in a marathon-like manner otherwise: "Un-renewable Energies" includes two productions, two residencies, four practice sharings, three "Bettaudienzen" (bed audiences), peer-to-peer mentorings, exchange formats, and a party, all created by Berlin-based artists. Also embedded within the festival is a symposium organized by the Cross-University Centre for Dance at HAU Hebbel am Ufer. With the exception of the symposium, the festival consciously takes place on weekdays, keeping the weekend free as a space for rest. "Un-renewable Energies" thus questions seemingly obvious assumptions and creates spaces for crip perspectives and new experiences of shared time.
