Open Call: Bridging The Scenes Delegation Trip to the Selected Works Festival in Aarhus
Open Call: Bridging The Scenes Delegation Trip to the Selected Works Festival in Aarhus
Berlin meets Aarhus! As part of Bridging the Scenes and with the goal of further networking the independent performing arts communities in Copenhagen, Aarhus and Berlin, we are offering eight Berlin-based artists working within the independent performing arts community with the opportunity to attend the Danish Selected Works Festival in Aarhus. During the festival, the participants will have the opportunity to become acquainted with the aesthetics and working methods of the other country and to take part in events for visiting industry professionals. Local experts for the performing arts will introduce the group to the city and bring them into contact with colleagues and the local independent performing arts community.
The Selected Works Festival has been taking place since 2014 with the goal of presenting the independent performing arts in a variety of formats, genres and forms of expression, bringing together the artists of the independent performing arts community and to strengthen the Danish community both nationally and internationally. This edition of the festival, the seventh, will take place for the first time in Copenhagen as well as in Aarhus. A selection of eleven Danish performances as well as one international guest production will be presented. This time, the cooperation partners include, amongst others, the Development Platform for Performing Arts in Copenhagen as well as the Performing Arts Platform in Aarhus. You can find a detailed schedule of events for the festival by visiting https://www.detfriefeltsfestival.dk/.
Bridging the Scenes is a network consisting of the ACT Festival (Sofia, Bulgaria), Malá Inventura (Prague, Czech Republic), Selected Works (Copenhagen and Aarhus, Denmark) and the Berlin Performing Arts Festival. Its focus is the establishment of a sustainable connection between the communities of the independent performing arts in the four European capitals. All participating festivals and organizations increase the visibility of their local community and actively draw attention to the cultural policy dimension of working independently. Reciprocal visits by artists and culture managers from all of the cities promote solidarity and professional discussions of current aesthetics, societal and artistic discourses as well as cultural policy. Through regular meetings with the festival management, continuous working conversation about shared concerns and a wide variety of exchange programs for members of the communities, individual competencies are supported and, at the same time, the exchange of knowledge between the respective structures is strengthened.
The Itinerary
The participants will travel to Aarhus for the Selected Works Festival between January 25 and 28, 2023, get to know the community and its members and, in coordination with the festival, take part in the schedule of events for visiting industry professionals and additional events. Travel expenses and overnight accommodations will be covered. A detailed schedule of events for the trip will be announced after the registration and selection of the participants.
