Open Call: Travel costs for Curators, Programmers & Amplifiers [Application deadline extended!]

Are you a performance venue operator, festival programmer or event organizer who would like to invite curators, programmers and multipliers to your 2025 program – but lack the financial means to cover travel and accommodation costs? Then you've come to the right place!

What we are looking for: Suggestions for which curators and programmers should be invited for festivals or events which already exist and/or are being planned.

What we have to offer: Payments of the expenses for travel and overnight accommodations for the invited guests.

We look forward to your applications!

Who Is This Open Call Intended For?

Large and small, established and alternative performance venues and festivals as well as organizers who already work in Berlin’s independent performing arts community that:

  • Require support for being able to invite curators, programmers and amplifiers to their schedule of events for the year 2025,
  • Contribute to the visibility of Berlin-based productions on a national and international level,
  • Support encounters and exchanges between the national and international visiting industry professionals and Berlin’s independent performing arts community.

The festival or event must take place in the time period of January to August 2025. A second open call will be issued for events and festivals that will take place from September 2025.

Please note: While we would like to continue our collaboration with the festivals and the performance venues that have already benefited from this support, this opportunity is also open to other members of the community as well. In order for as many members of the community to be able to benefit from this opportunity as possible, we encourage everyone to apply, regardless of the size of the festival or event that includes a schedule of ancillary programming.

Application

Please apply by November 11, 2024 with the attached application form in German or English via an email (max. 5 MB) sent to: fachbesucherprogramm [at] pap-berlin.de.

Selection and Process

The selection will be made by staff members of the Berlin Performing Arts Program with the support of an external expert/evaluator. A cooperation agreement will be drafted between you and LAFT Berlin in which the financial and direct cost coverages by both partners will be listed. Please bear in mind that the decision to assume all or part of the expenses is dependent upon the overall budget as well as the selection criteria.

Over the course of the selection, special attention will be paid to:

  • The representation of the various genres of Berlin’s independent performing arts community.
  • The local anchoring of the festival or the event.
  • The potential for national and international networking.
  • The presence and/or representation of a variety of perspectives.

The decision is planned to be announced by the middle of November.
