Queer Bodies on Stage

Resisting Interpretation : Exploring Non- Binary Embodiments Through Performances of Flesh.

For over the last twenty years Liz Rosenfeld has created both live performative and filmic works which deal with questions concerning queer identifications, bodies of resistance, and the responsibility of taking up space. In an intimate talk, Liz will look at how she has come to understand herself as a non-binary queer body through her performance and film work, specifically talking about how the relational practices of queer cruising and sex have informed her artistic practice, while also furthering her connection to flesh as material. Rather than an articulation of gender identity, Rosenfeld's connection with non-binary relationality informs her own political and emotional realization of how one's body can move queer time and space.

Following Liz’ talk, Tobias Herzberg and her will discuss contemporary queer discourses as for example concepts of empowerment via self-marketing, radical subjectivity, and the question why we as performing artists should treat topics like queerness (or heterosexuality) with great explicity.
